Final Thoughts: Oh! Edo Rocket

Tamaya Seikichi is a fireworks maker who dreams of making fireworks that the world has never seen- the only problem is that he lives in 1840s Edo, where such luxuries have been banned. Nonetheless, Seikichi is determined to pursue his dream, and he is only given more reason to persevere when a mysterious girl named Sora shows up and asks him to make a rocket that can reach the moon. Inspired by this unusual request, Seikichi and his friends in the Furai Row-House block band together to defy not only the edicts of the government, but history itself.

Annual Round-Up 2007

A normal day at Azure Flame.

It’s been a year of ups and downs, of anime gems and utter disappointments- a year when I’ve alternated between craving more and feeling utterly fed up with the continuing deluge of episodes that take no account of the fact that people might have other things to do than stay in and watch all day. Nonetheless, in true years-end tradition, we must review all the new series in an Annual Round-Up, a project which I meant to periodically update through the year but ended up writing at the last minute again.

As always, red titles are those which were dropped, and blues are the picks of the year. Come back on Tuesday for the New Year Rumble, in which we take a look at the year in the life of Azure Flame.

First Ever Obligatory Season Preview Post: Spring 2007

Yes, so everyone does these and they do them a lot better than I can be bothered to, but since I’m opinionated enough to want to write this, and it turned out to be too long to be absorbed into Tuesday Rumble, a spring preview has come to exist anyway. If you want pictures and decent descriptions of these series, look elsewhere, for unlike my usual attempts to impart some kind of quality to a post, this is just me rambling on for a while- and I’m even too lazy to include those same few pictures you’ve seen several times before.

Anything in red probably won’t be touched, blue will be watched for at least a few weeks, and black is indifferent/undecided. Edit: the blue got messed up when I pasted from Word so it may not be entirely correct.
