Final Thoughts: El Cazador de la Bruja

It’s been a long time since I’ve been able to have an honest-to-goodness rant. I’ve tried to moderate myself and just post my thoughts in the form of structured reviews, but the time has come to break down those barriers and lay into the easiest target of the Spring 2007 season- El Cazador de la Bruja. A series which generated low expectations even before it began, Cazador nonetheless managed to plumb untold depths of dullness and monotony, and much as it pains me to revisit it in any form, this rant shall be a cathartic experience that will justify sitting through those twenty-six episodes in the first place.

chibi-dii-blog.pngClub Prinny

Since most readers on here are above the age of ten, you may or may not be aware of Club Penguin, a children’s website which I admittedly visit once or twice a fortnight to mess around on. Nonetheless, Club Penguin feels lacking in something, and so it seems to me that we must update it for the anime and gaming generation, with an all-new spin on it entitled Club Prinny. On Club Prinny, one must input a number of sins in order to generate a damned soul, which is then sewn into a prinny. After customising your prinny, you can wander around the Netherworld performing tasks to atone for your sins, and generally serving Laharl and Etna. Special events include payday (once a year) and the night of the red moon, where prinnies who have atoned for their sins can finally leave the site. Continue reading →

Romeo X Juliet parody episode 22

Juliet is angsting over her destiny when Tybalt appears.

Tybalt: Juliet, I must have some kind of plot role to justify my existence- therefore I must insist that I be the one to kill Montague.

Juliet: Hatred and anger is wrong- the only way out of this situation is for me to become WOOD.

Tybalt: WOOD?

Juliet: Yes- and so I won’t be here to give Romeo STRAIGHT. Could you perhaps educate him in the ways of HARD GAY?

(Tybalt: Oh great- just what I wanted to hear.) Continue reading →

Sunday News Bites: November 11th

Hello and welcome to another edition of Sunday News Bites! We know you all felt our absence rather keenly last weekend, and so to make up for it we have invited some brand new special guests into the studio to comment on the week’s news- the girls from Ichigo Mashimaro!

Doujin Work to hit the US?
Alongside the second season of flagship franchise Genshiken and its spin-off Kujibiki Unbalance, Media Blasters has claimed that it will be dubbing “Doujin Works”, although they refuse to confirm or deny whether this means they have the license to the 2007 Doujin Work anime. That being said, it seems hard to imagine what else they could be referring to, and so it seems that this series may well be hitting the US at some point in the future. Continue reading →

El Cazador de la Bruja parody episode 26 [end]

Nadie and Ellis have finished their adventures, and now they seem ready to hand the baton of main character over to someone else and settle down into obscurity. When push comes to shove, however, will they be able to give up being the stars of the show?

Nadie experiences extreme boredom after watching twenty-five episodes of El Cazador. Continue reading →

Tuesday Rumble: November 6th- slowly recovering edition

chibi-dii-blog.pngNovember 5th is more traditionally known as Guy Fawkes Night, Bonfire Night or Fireworks Night in the UK, but not to my little sister, who rather disturbingly referred to it as “Letterbomb Night”. Could this be a sign of the times? Continue reading →

Breaking News: Karura returns from Death’s Door

chibi-karura-blog.pngA riot broke out outside Azure Towers over the weekend when it became apparent to readers that commander in chief Karura was not in the building. Ignoring the sounds of Lui rattling his chains in the basement and the judges hitting each other over the head with their scoring paddles, chibi Dii and Mikoto went on a bold journey to find out what had happened to their mistress, only to discover that she had been laid low all weekend by an illness that reduced both HP and MP to a measly 1. Tuesday Rumble: October 30th

chibi-dii-blog.pngOkay, I’ll start by levelling with you- I don’t know what happened, but in the last few weeks my enthusiasm for watching anime and blogging just leaked away. Don’t worry, I won’t be giving up entirely, but it does mean the rate of posting that you have become accustomed to will be replaced by something more leisurely in pace.

Akagi 4Kids

Great news, Akagi fans, your favourite show has been licensed- by 4Kids! After the success of Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh!, we decided that kids were ready for yet another gaming craze in the form of mah-jongg (or as we have decided to rename it, Tile Frenzy). In this series, plucky lead Ace (formerly known as Akagi) will bravely battle against the Gentlemen’s Club (yakuza) as he tries to prove to everyone that courage and faith are all you need to win at Tile Frenzy! Unlike Akagi, Ace doesn’t cheat- he just uses the power of friendship and destiny, and he has no fear of his opponent’s pointy fingers of death! Continue reading →
